Spool Music ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our iOS music player application handles information.

The short version: Spool Music is a local-first music player that stores all your data on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on external servers.

Information We Do NOT Collect

Spool Music does not collect, transmit, or store:

• Personal information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
• User accounts or login credentials
• Music files or playlists
• Usage analytics or statistics
• Device identifiers for tracking
• Location data
• Contacts or social connections
• Payment information

Data Storage

All data generated by Spool Music is stored locally on your device:

• Music Library: The app scans your device's music folder to build a local database of your music files. These files remain on your device and are never uploaded.
• Playlists: Your playlists are stored in a local SQLite database on your device.
• Album Art: Album artwork is cached locally on your device.
• Playback State: Your current playback position and queue are stored locally.
• App Settings: Your preferences (theme, etc.) are stored locally.

Third-Party Services

Spool Music uses the following third-party services with minimal data exchange:

iTunes Search API

When you scan your music library, the app may query Apple's iTunes Search API to find album artwork for your music. This service:

• Only receives search queries (artist name and album title)
• Does not receive any personal information
• Does not track your usage
• Returns publicly available album art URLs

Permissions

Spool Music requires the following iOS permissions:

• File Access: To read your music files from the app's document directory
• Media Library (optional): If you choose to import music from your iOS Media Library

These permissions are used solely to access your music files for playback. We do not access any other data on your device.

Playlist Import/Export

Spool Music supports importing and exporting playlists in M3U format:

• Export: When you export a playlist, a .m3u file is created locally on your device. You control how and where to share this file.
• Import: When you import a playlist, the app reads the .m3u file from your device's file system. No data is transmitted externally.

Children's Privacy

Spool Music does not collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. The app is suitable for all ages as it functions entirely offline and does not collect personal data.

Data Security

Since all data is stored locally on your device, the security of your data is protected by:

• iOS's built-in security features
• Your device's passcode/biometric lock
• iOS's app sandboxing (apps cannot access each other's data)

Data Deletion

You have complete control over your data:

• All data is stored on your device
• Deleting the app removes all associated data from your device
• There is no external data to delete since we don't collect any

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
